About “Tornado warning”
A tornado warning is a public warning that is issued by national meteorological services for an area in the path of a tornado, or a severe thunderstorm capable of producing one, and advises individuals in that area to take cover. They are often issued based on detection of rotation in a thunderstorm by a Doppler weather radar which can provide earlier warning. Modern enhancements to radar can also allow confirmation and tracking of a tornado by the presence of a debris signature. They are also issued based on reported visual sighting of a tornado, funnel cloud, or rotating wall cloud by weather spotters, the public, law enforcement, or local emergency management.
